I have a Brown and Sharpe # 1 Universal Cylindrical Grinder that I have owned since 1999 . At that time I was going to try and set the machine up with a more modern work head and a different grinding wheel head to make it more versitile for a specific job grinding special cutting tools.

I do use light or med way oil on the Z axis (table in/out) because that moves slowly, and the oil runs off the inverted V's quickly. But that tends to be where most of the wear occurs on this type of small grinder. Other than for tool room use, I can't imagine running a grinder without 2 axis auto. What a nuisance and waste of time.
